From February 10-14, 2025, AATI brought together the Agricultural Transformation Offices (ATOs) of Tanzania and Sierra Leone for an intensive learning retreat in Nairobi. The goal? To equip ATOs with the skills, strategies, and networks needed to accelerate agricultural transformation.
This retreat was more than just training—it was about unlocking solutions, setting priorities, and strengthening delivery mechanisms to ensure real impact.
Key takeaways from the retreat:
- Deliverology & execution strategies – Ensuring ATOs can translate plans into results.
- Partnership building & resource mobilization – Expanding collaboration for greater impact.
- Research & policy analysis – Strengthening evidence-based decision-making.
- Communications – Enhancing outreach and stakeholder engagement & advocacy.
A defining moment: The visioning session allowed ATOs to align their work with government priorities, ensuring their 2025 action plans are clear, focused, and impactful.
Cross-country learning: Insights from Ethiopia, Togo, and Sudan provided valuable lessons on what works—and what doesn’t—in agricultural transformation.
The event also reaffirmed the power of collaboration—highlighting the importance of peer learning, teamwork, and shared solutions to strengthen Africa’s agricultural institutions.
