AATI support to specific countries could be a combination of these three areas based on needs.

Visioning & strategy operationalization

 

  • Sector-wide diagnostics (e.g., value chain analysis),
  • National agricultural strategy formulation, prioritization, planning and review,
  • Top down formulation of flagship priorities to tie projects to strategic pillars.

Institutional support

 

  • Diagnostic on existing delivery infrastructure,
  • Institutional design and operationalize,
  • Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), performance management and data/analytics tools,
  • Resource mobilization for running national delivery units,
  • Evidence-based policy,
  • Digital capabilities and tools,
  • Leadership capabilities.
 

Flagship implementation & delivery

 

  • Development of implementation plan / roadmap for flagship,
  • Support implementation e.g., rolling out frontline change agent training programs,
  • Coordinating stakeholders for implementation e.g., Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) roundtables,
  • Develop approach to financing mechanism for flagship,
  • Share knowledge and methodology for on-the- ground support.

Countries 

Priority countries: Kenya, Tanzania and Sierra Leone

Exploration countries: Senegal, Malawi, Ghana, Benin

The AATI has initiated inception missions with the Governments of Malawi, Senegal, Tanzania, Kenya and Ghana to explore the potential of establishing agricultural delivery units.

Tanzania

 

The AATI has established a strong engagement with the Government of Tanzania to support the acceleration of its transformation agenda. The Minister of Agriculture of Tanzania launched a week-long consultative workshop on 19th June, 2023. The workshop explored AATI support to Tanzania’s agricultural transformation agenda including the setting up of an Agricultural Transformation Office (ATO) within the Ministry of Agriculture, which will serve as the secretariat of the government steering committee on agricultural transformation. The Agriculture Transformation Office was launched on 5 September, 2023 during the AGRF Summit in Dar es Salaam. Furthermore, the AATI is exploring a partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) on its engagement in Tanzania.

Partnership Support

 

The AATI is working with the Rockefeller Foundation to support the development of the true value of food tool for Kenya. The AATI is also pursuing partnership with the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) to develop joint projects and programs which can be embedded in various African countries.

 

Additionally, ongoing partnership engagements have been initiated with the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Food Action Alliance, MasterCard Foundation and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) among others.
